According to the foundation, the distinguished award recognises Roots Foundation and Exide Industries' efforts in transforming education and healthcare infrastructure within Government Schools in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
The award underscores the multifaceted interventions in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), school infrastructure support, capacity-building of school management committees and innovation to enhance students' logical and analytical thinking. The project has also prioritised life skills training, contributing to the holistic development of the students.

The Roots Foundation concludes that the initiatives under the School Transformation and Healthcare Project have thus far impacted more than 2 000 students.
The organisation concludes that it is dedicated to creating a conducive learning environment for students from rural government schools and advancing healthcare facilities to holistically develop underprivileged communities in rural Tamil Nadu.
