The award was presented at Hollywood Palladium. The
PGA has correctly 'predicted' 10 of the
Best Picture Oscar-winners over the past 12 years. The
PGA trophy was received by the
1917 producing team that included producer Pippa Harris and director Sam Mendes.
"In these times of division and conflict around the world, I really hope [
1917] is just a reminder to never take for granted the peace that we all inherited," says Harris.
1917 follows the tale of two young British soldiers on a single day at the height of World War I, as they are given a seemingly impossible mission.
1917 is in the running for 10
Academy Awards, including the
Oscars for
Best Picture,
Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Original Screenplay and
Best Visual Effects.
1917 is the winner of the
Golden Globe Awards for
Best Picture and
Best Director. It is also nominated for nine
BAFTAs. 1917 is now showing in South African cinemas nationwide, including limited runs in Premium Large Format and Dolby Atmos theatres.
